AMERICAN MADE IRON

We never thought about making our plates anywhere else, we have always wanted all our products to be Made In the USA. Our search for a high-quality American Foundry led us to Waupaca Foundry who has been making best in class iron for over 60 years.

Located in Wisconsin, Waupaca is one of the largest foundries in America with a melt capacity of 10,000 metric tons/day and is the world’s largest gray and ductile iron producer. With vast experience in the industry, they were able to take our design prototype and manufacture our plates to exact specifications.

BUILT TO LAST

Our goal was to make plates that would be functional, easy to handle, and most of all -- accurate. Cast of gray iron, using innovative technology every single plate has a combination of toughness, precision, and reliability from casting all the way to finish.  

Our 45s and 25s were designed to be thin while at the same time have a deep lip for ease of handling and the inner diameter of all our plates was designed to have a snug fit on the bar. Made of American Iron these plates are designed to last a lifetime.

PRECISION machining

Following casting our plates are machined along the outer and inner diameters. This process makes for a smooth finish and ensures both size and weight specification. Every single plate goes through the same machining process from 45s to 2.5s ensuring accuracy to within 2% of design weight.

Seeking a plate that did not wobble and move once on the bar we made the inner diameter of all our plates 1.99”. Industry standard barbells sleeves are 1.95” resulting in a precise fit on your barbell.

Electro Coated

Our plates are washed and pre-treated before a layer of e-coat is applied, adding durability and protection underneath our e-coat surface.

Popular in the automotive and agriculture world for its durability, e-coating is a process that attaches paint to the surface of the iron using electricity. This finish prevents corrosion, is resistant to chipping and has a more uniform coating than other methods used for finishing plates.
