At the request of Mark Rippetoe, I wrote an article for Starting Strength back in 2019 on the importance of weight training shoes for the lifter. I detailed why taking care of your feet was important as well as the benefits of training in shoes, particularly weightlifting shoes.
Four years later I still feel the same way about shoes. But with four more years of coaching under my belt I no longer think that the reason people do not buy them is because they are not convinced they will help. I just think that most people are not serious enough about lifting.
