How To Bench Without A Spotter

Having coached thousands of people how to perform the basic barbell lifts there is one thing that we have always found to be true: lifting with someone almost always leads to better results.

Ideally, you are lifting with a qualified coach and receiving live feedback as you perform the lifts.  But even if you’re not with a coach, we find that having a training partner is extremely helpful.

One for accountability, making sure that you actually show up. Two, for the encouragement they provide along the way, and three, for safety. But we understand that from time to time you will find yourself lifting alone, without your coach or your lifting partner.
