How To Get Your Wife To Lift Weights

By Grant Broggi, SSC

A few years ago I wrote about how I convinced my parents to start lifting weights. It was a long journey getting my parents to even try getting under a barbell and I wrote the article because I thought it might be helpful to share what I learned about the process.

Many people over the years have reached out to tell me how useful some of the advice was and often share a story of how they got someone to start lifting.

Many lifters often urge their parents and grandparents to train because they see the physical effects of aging first hand and they want their family to remain healthy as they get older. But after they are done convincing their parents, the next common question is “How do I get my wife to lift?”

I know many women lift already. But I am of the opinion that weight training is equally, if not more, important for women and there is a long way we have to go to make lifting more acceptable to women.

Convincing your wife to lift is somewhat different than convincing your parents to lift. However, many of the same principles still apply.

This week’s YouTube video covers exactly that. I hope you find it useful with helping your loved ones make a positive change in their lives.
